Packing 101: Sweet November in China
When I went to China with my hubby and friends, I suggested we all pack the items in the list below and we actually wore every item. It was enough for a total of 14 days. Keep in mind you might buy clothes there because you will find good deals.
Our trip started in Northern China in Beijing in November and we traveled South to Xian, Shanghai and then Hong Kong and Macau. We like to travel in November because we can take Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving as PTO. And as it turns out, November is a great time to visit Asia. The season starts to change in November so you as you travel, you can experience the different climates.
Beijing was so cold, there was snow and icicles on the trees. We had to wear hats, scarves, gloves and jackets. As we traveled South, it got a little warmer and we didn’t need the extra accessories. When we arrived in Hong Kong, we had to change into tank tops and shorts.
1. 5 pairs of pants – jeans/khakis
2. Turtlenecks and thin sweaters because I want to layer (enough for a week since we’ll probably shop or I will rewear)
3. 1 jacket
4. A knit cap or two
5. Gloves and scarf
6. PJs
7. A pair of slippers
8. 1 outfit for going to a club/bar
9. 1 outfit for a nice dinner
10. 1 outfit for working out b/c I may feel the need to do some yoga or something with all the eating
11. 2 pairs of walking shoes so I can walk and workout
12. 1 pair of going out shoes to go with the club and nice dinner outfit
13. 1 pair of boots (the girls all packed this but Steve skipped)
14. Don’t forge to bring small packets of tissue for your meals at restaurants as they do not typically provide napkins
15. Bring travel size rolls of toilet paper
